  The Human Says . . .

I has the Mel Tormé earsicles. For once, I won't disagree with her. Do you know what they called Mel Tormé? I do.

***And the winner is . . . Ducky's Mum in the very first comment! *I* think my ears are like velvet and they look a sort of foggy color here, don't you think? He was one of the Human's favorite jazz singers--here's a good one: When Sunny Gets Blue.

Do tell us about Mel Torme. Mum says they used to call his voice the velvet fog, but not sure if that fits here.

Tell us please. Mom doesn't know who Mel is.

Mel Torme had cat ears? Wow, I never knew that!

I've looked at lots of pic of Mel online and can't see anything unusual or distinctive about his ears, so I don't understand the Human's point. Please explain.

Oh Miss Megan, Miss Megan! I had not expected a fine Human of your obvious intelligence and refinement to be so, well, I have to say it: Dense.

There. I'm sorry. But this is what we esoteric artistic types call "lit-ra-choor" or "poetic license" and stuff.

We are transposing the "Velvet Fog" sobriquet given to him because of his smooth, cool voice, to describe the velvety grayish earsicles on my adorable head.

Do you see now? Do you? Please tell me you do!

And guess what? The Human had the opportunity to enjoy little vegemite sandwiches at school today. She didn't eat any though. ::shudder::

Ah. Thanks for the explanation. I'd never heard of Mel Torme (living on the other side of the planet, and all), so I googled him and it all remained a mystery. I don't know that that makes me 'dense', just not as mindful of American culture as those of you who live 'over there'.

Vegemite sandwiches - NOW we're talking real culture. They are excellent. Most cats enjoy Vegemite, so so ask the Human to snaffle some up for you next time she has the opportunity.

Oh Spitty my Mom says she remembers the "Velvet Fog" and his smoooooooooooth voice. Lucky you to be compared to him with those earsicles of yours.

Oh don't be mad at me, Miss Megan! We was just playin' with you :-) You know how I love you and dream of the day you teleport over here, scoop me up, and take me to Oz with you so you can provide me the kind of proper service the Human has never even tried to achieve. AND you can feed me vegemite, too!

Wow, I can feel my old brain cells dying as I try to access memories of Mel Torme, Spitty!

Fog- well, we guess it fits with San Francisco! but we do love the photo - the perfect focus of velvety ears and then the slight blurry softness of your back. Even Aila snuck a sly look.

You do have very nice ears.

Your ears do look lovely and velvety. I vaguely remember Mel Tormé but he wasn't as well known in the UK. I think he may have sung Blue Moon?
