And Just Who Was It , Human....

that gave you purrmission to pet me while I was a-sleeping? I will allow that it did feel nice, but  I find it disturbing that you are taking such liberties on a more frequent basis. This is a development to which King Spitty must devote further Royal Study. He might even need to consult some of his Royal Subjects on the topic. We'll see. Meanwhile, I will be closing my eyes again very soon. Just so's you know.

Once again, Kitties, you have proved your awesome Smartypants-ness
Too many of you to list found the correct solution to our little word puzzle yesterday. The answer depends on seeing the word "number" not as a noun or verb referring to numerals, but as the comparative form of the adjective numb
Once that hurdle was overcome, the answer was clear:  My palm's number than my five fingers.

N.B.  After some research (thank you Google!) regarding the comparative and superlative degrees of "numb," I find that numb-number-numbest is cited by several sources, pointing out that context should easily differentiate it from "number" (numeric). However, all of those same sources say that "more numb" is perfectly acceptable, perhaps even more graceful, and avoids the ambiguity. Alas, "more numb" ruins the puzzle ;-)

The Answer Kitty

Well, aren't you all just a bunch of Smartypantses! Even those of you who got it wrong were pretty darn clever in the process! And I know it was you Kitties, because the Humans are probably still stuck on the first line, MOL!

So, the Official Answer is:  Tongue.
(Behind a white wall~teeth, though so small but stronger than all~jaw muscle produces the most force in the human body, I have to prove~your ideas and thoughts by talking

So, as of this writing, we think Simba, King Punapippuri, Prancer Pie, Whisppy, MeowMeowMans, and Mark'sMews* got it right! Someone guessed a grandfather clock, and several kitties thought it might be a white chess piece. Nice going, Furiends!
*A self-reported cheater, however

Now, we have one more challenge for you! Here are seven words that ordered in the correct way make a simple and logical English sentence:
Your mission, Kitties, should you choose to accept it, is to Make That Sentence.
As usual, should you be ungrammatical or use poor spelling, King Spitty will disavow any knowledge of your activities.

(Not-So) Wordless Wednesday

Why hello, Kitties. So nice of you to drop by today. The King's a little lonely here in his sunpuddles now that his Human has returned to day hunting.

Still, he manages to entertain himself, and today he has a little old-fashioned riddle for his Furiends and their Humans. These riddles are little poems that pose a question, and here is the one I found for you today:

A lonely king behind a white wall
Though so small but stronger than all
I can't go anywhere though I always move
You do the thinking and I have to prove

So, Kitties, I ask you: What Am I?
Answer tomorrow ~

P.S.  Thanks, Star, for my 6th and final star! XOXO

Long Spitty is Long

Hello, Kitties! This weekend was disturbingly sunny and warm for late November.

It reminded the Human of one childhood Thanksgiving Day in Sacramento when the city was sweltering in 90° heat. Her family's home had two fireplaces, one in the living room and the other in the family room. She remembers her mother calling to her dad, "Bill! Come on! Get those fires going!" and her dad replying, "But, Gin, it's ninety degrees out--everyone will melt!"

Her mom insisted it was Thanksgiving so they were damn well going to have fires going, and ultimately she prevailed. The fireplaces blazed merrily away while every door and window stood wide open and the air conditioning blasted.  Great-Aunt Gerry got the Vapors and no one felt much like consuming the giant turkey dinner laid out for them.

But Mama got her fires, so it was all good. I like that story. It illustrates how the world could be if only *I* held that much sway over The Human.

P.S.  Thanks to my Beautiful Katie for my fourth star! And of course I am sending one back to her.  ♥ And thanks to The Island Cats for my fifth!

Furiends, Roamers, Countrycats

Lend me your Fancy Feast.  I think I need to fatten up
a little more before the Ides of March.

Let me have kitties about me that are fat,
Sleek-headed kitties and such as sleep a-nights.
Yond Spitty had a lean and hungry look,
He thought too much; such cats are dangerous.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
P.S. Thanks Mark's Mews for Star #2 and Austin for #3. We are linking back to Austin since we has not yet given him one!

BOTY Award

Last Sunday, the Glorious Queen Penelope granted me (me, Kitties, me! Can you even imagine?) this most exciting Blog of the Year Award! Just LOOK at the Stars! Thanks, Nellie!

The Rools are as follows: This is an award you can receive SIX times so you can fill up all the star spaces. (See how on the badge only one star is lit up? When you've received it six times, all the stars will be filled. And, yes, all right, I *did* give myself 12 stars in my picture but they are not real stars, only king-bling.)

First I must send this Award back to Nellie so she can has another star!

Since there are six stars I will choose six furiends to send it on to. (Now, I know some bloggers don't like to pawticipate in these awards, and that's okay. I won't send Vinny around to kneecap you or nuffing. Remember, Spitty is the King, not the Godpawther):

#1. Celestial Kitties Star and Leo are the best, and honestly, how could you not give this award to a blog that has celestial in its name?

#2. The World's Most Stunning Cat Whether she's showing her sweet self or her snarky side, this little Kitty-from-the-Hood is always star-worthy.

#3. Little Cat Feet Shaggy and Scout have been our pals for a long time, and they and their Mom are stellar for giving a great home to Patches.

#4. Mark's Mews Ayla, Marley, Iza-Lambie-Lovey & even TBT are all stars in our universe.

#5. Glogirly and Katie are such stars already they probably don't even need more stars, but how could we not give them one?

#6. Island Cats We really lubz Zoey, Ernie and Wally and we think they deserve a star every day!

House Panther Friday

So I scored some turkey from the Giant Thanksgiving Blowout nice Thanksgiving dinner the Human attended. Just to remind her who makes the decisions around here, I refused to eat it.
So not only does she get all frustrated and upset that I will not consume the nice treat she brought for me, I also get to pretty much ensure that she can't eat it herself after I nuzzle and lick each little piece a few times. Win-win, eh?
Now I can't find that Bird who was here Wednesday. A few Lovely Ladycats dropped in Thursday when they heard I was all alone (cue the violins). I think maybe one a them mighta deaded it.
Hope all you Kitties and your Humans had a nice Thanksgiving!

Very Thankful Thursday

It's baaaaaaaaaaack!

Yes, Kitties, my Soft Brown Blankie (SBB) reappeared Wednesday,
just in time for my Thanksgiving Comfort.
It does not quite make up for my abandonment
as the Human ventures southward to enjoy the Big Day
of Feasting and Friendship, but it's a start.
I hope each and every one of you has
a good reason to be thankful today.

So It Turns Out

Smug Cat is too busy for your Human foolishness.
Come back later and we'll see.

*     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *     *

Now, we have to apologize (yet again) for
being tardy in posting this awfully nice
"Family of Bloggers" award that we got
from Lovely Mollie, who, despite
the natural disadvantages of being a woofie
instead of a kitty, is actually a very cool girl.
Also, we luffs this award since there don't
seem to be any rules--that's the very best kind.
Thanks, Mollie!

O Where, O Where Can You Be?

                                O Blankie! my Blankie! our summer's days are spent;
                                And I have weather'd many storms, the Tut'ring much grief sent;
The winter's near, its bells I hear, the table's cold and bare,
Your Soft Brown Fluff would gently cushion my expanding derriè

-With heartfelt apologies to Walt Whitman

Pay no attention to that Kitty behind the curtain.
The Great Spitty has spoken!

What Do You Want?

Can't you see I'm kind of busy
Also, please don't make any sudden moves or act like you might get all grabby-hands
with me. If you do, I'll have to leap up and dash away out of reach, and I really am pretty comfortable here.

If you'll just take your camera
and back slowly away, nobody needs to be inconvenienced

Forget The Velvet Underground. . .

. . .and enjoy Black Velvet.

The Human says I should be a "Good Sport"
about these pictures, but I dunno.
I want to bite her real bad.

Who, Me? I'm Chillin' Like a Villain

Hello, Kitties, So nice of you to drop in. The grass is on the table, the Martini shaker's on the shelf (well-spotted, King Mr. Brown's Black's [hahahahaha] Human), all the beddies are available, and the noms are on the green tray (there's plenty more where that came from). We're spinning some Grateful Dead and The Band tunes and ignoring the stock market and the news.

C'mon in and set a spell.

Aw, c'mon! Didn't I hear they legalized it for recreational use?

Lazy Player? Pfft! As If!

I believe I have been unfairly labeled a "Lazy Player" by my Human (who, truth be told, has no business calling anyone or anything "lazy"). I am most emphatically not an L.P., but rather a lightning-fast feather-killer with moves far too speedy to be captured by the Human's ::cheap-a$$:: camera.

Awards, The Sequel

Kitties, Today I am catching up with two more awardies. The "Thinking of You" award is from my friends Star & Leo and the "Seven Things" is from my sweet Nellie, the Cat from Hell.

I am supposed to list Things I Think About and Things About Me. Since I often Think About Me, I will combine the lists into one:

1.  Since being tutored last August, I have learned the Joys of Food, Glorious Food. Bring it on, and plenty of it. In fact, I am sending the Human to PetSmart tomorrow. She has to go there more often than she used to.

2.  My tutoring has not dimmed my enthusiasm and ardor for the LadyCats.

3.  My Human should provide The Brushies on demand, not when she happens to feel like it.

4.  I think the Human should help me visit all my furiends every day, not when she happens to feel like it.

5.  I dream about my fev-vers and believe the Human should play fev-vers with me whenever I want, not when she happens to feel like it.

6.  I want a three-point tunnel like Savannah has. Is that too much to ask?

7.  This evening the Human discovered my secret sleeping spot:
Lately she thought this shelf of folded pants was ridiculously messy (even by her lax standards), but she did not realize the true reason until tonight when I did not awaken from my comfortable nappy until it was too late, and she caught me jumping down.
*     *     *     *     *     *     *
I have waited so long to post about these that I fear everykitty has gotten them already. If perchance you have not, feel free to take one or both and tell us all your interesting secrets! I for one am longing to hear them.

Sun-Day, Squinty Sun-Day

By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.
(Yes, yes, I know, I know. It's poetic license, all right?)

Nip Is Addictive?

Or something!  Anyway, I am embarrassed that I have received TWO-count-them-TWO awards from one of my very best buds, Nerissa, and am just now getting around to posting them! Of course, I would never dream (cough, cough) of blaming someone else (cough, cough, Human) for this shameful tardiness, so I beg forgiveness and promise to do better.

The Addictive Blog Award came with no requirements (thank goodness since it's Friday evening and I can barely get the Human to put her thumbs to good use for me). So I will say a heartfelt Thanks to my pal and that's that. I really do like being addictive.

The Bring on the Nip award, however, requires me to describe one thing I wish to celebrate. These last weeks have brought many good reasons to celebrate, but I will choose to celebrate the onset of AUTUMN and cold nights and warm beddies. After this endless season of partisan bickerings, I think soft warm snuggly beds are something we can ALL agree on, Kitties!
The last part of the Nip award is to share it with from one-to-twelve other furiends. I am kinda running out of steam here, so I choose these three fantastic felines:
                                                         Patches at Little Cat Feet
                                                         Marley at Mark's Mews
                                                         Sassy at Troublin' Times

Wake Me on Caturday

The hots are all gone and the colds have arrived, bringing in the best sleeping weather of the year. The loathsome Daylight Savings Time has ended (honestly, Kitties, even *I* understand that the Humans cannot manipulate the solar system into having more hours in the day.  Are they really that stupid? Oh wait--am I seriously asking that question? Of course they are, ha ha ha)!

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

I figured if I hung out under the TV I wouldn't have to actually watch it. Is it really over? Is it safe to start  answering the phone again? Can we stop emptying our recycling six times a week? Will everyone just shut up now?

Ahhhhh, now that's just lovely

P.S. #1   Sticker, meet silky furs.
What an outrage!

P.S. #2  I put a toy on the Human's
bed today.
Whatever can it mean?

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

I Voted!

Well, all right, not really. But the Human did and she gotted this sticker to prove it. She tried to put it on my head, but Spitty Don't Play That.
She's lucky to have gotten a picture at all! Plus, it pulled out heaps and heaps of my precious furs when she rudely ripped it off me so she could wear it to school tomorrow. It's always all about her.

We Has the Hots

Morning Hots
Evening Hots
Late-Night Hots
It is just *unnatural* for temps to be in the mid-8os in November, Kitties.

N.B.: I rarely expose The Bellehbut it was so hot I had no choice. I guess you can tell I've been eating more, eh?

Fev-ver Fever, Part Deux

Yes! These fev-vers are fun-fun-fun! The Human finally spent some quality time with me on Caturday, and I discovered that Savannah and CK have *NOT* been lying about the Joys of the Peacock.

But wait: Are there whole flocks of fevver-less Peacocks? Will Angry Birds stampede, screeching, to my doorstep in search of my fevver stash?

No Spitty, says the Human, they're b-i-r-d-s. They m-o-l-t.

Oh. Still, there was really no need to take that tone with me.

No Mutiny on This Bounty

Oh my, Kitties! It is the Season of Bounty here at Castle Spittola!  Both the Human & I were the recipients of pawsome prizes as the result of our World Series Bet with the fantabulous Cody and Caren of Cat Chat, who, like the good sports they are, paid up in speedy and bounteous fashion!

For me, the postman brought a YeowwW Nip Rainbow and for the Human a pair of items chock full of chocolaty deliciousness. Her package contained a jar of Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge and a box of Pecan Torties (Torties, Kitties! Do you hear that???) from a local Michigan company called Sanders. I already  got my paws on my present; so far the Human has only drooled. But the truth must be told: She purchased a container of ice cream with which to "test out" the hot fudge this very evening.

Now, if the world was really fair, it would be the Giants who got all this loot, as strictly speaking, neither the Human nor I had anything to do with winning the series, but you know what? We are NOT sharing!

So Thanks Caren & Cody--and may the Tigers and the Giants meet again soon!
*     *     *     *     *     *     *     *

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
